Texas Superfood Festival
Now that the weather is warming up, all kinds of food festivals are starting to pop up all over Texas. So, if you love to try a new dish or just wanted to be surrounded by savory dishes, here are some Texas superfood festivals that you should check out.
- CASI Terlingua International Chili Cook-Off (Terlingua) One of the most iconic food in Texas is Chili and this year. Texas will be celebrating the 51st CASI Terlingua International Chili Championship. It is the most awaited cook-off in Texas which is celebrated every first Saturday of November each year. This 4-day celebration is completed by the annual proclamation of “Chili Appreciation Society International Day” in Texas. The cook-off championship will be held at Rancho CASI de los Chisos in Terlingua.
- Luling Watermelon Thump, Everyone’s favorite summer treat is also being celebrated in Texas. It is a four-day celebration with different kinds of activities including live entertainment, watermelon seed spitting contests, watermelon eating contests, a number of carnival kiddie rides as well as food booths and more. It is held every June in Downtown Luling Texas.
- Texas Rice Festival This festival is an event that showcases agricultural and horticultural products like craft, cattle, sheep, farm produces, vegetable, flowers, and more. It will be held on October 4 to 7 at the Winnie Stowell Park in Chambers County. This event also features food, arts and crafts, live music from top Texas and Nashville performers and a livestock show.
- Texas Steak Cook off (Hico) This steak festival is the biggest steak cook-off in the Southwest of United States. It is celebrated annually by different steak lovers from all over the country. People who will attend the event will be given the chance to sample countless steaks made by various cooks and then be able to judge which among them will win the title of the “Best Steak in Texas” together with a prize of $3500. Last May 20, 2017, the event brought in 108 teams.
