Veteran’s Story: My husband was 17 years old when he enlisted. He was in Vietnam from April 11,1968 until April 14, 1969. He could never settle down after coming home. He went home to NY to his mother’s for a couple of months and then left and went to Alaska for 10 years working on the pipeline and king Crab fishing. He drifted all over the country and Europe until 1987. We met while both of us were on vacation in Daytona Beach Florida on June 30, 1987. I had a 13 year old daughter from a previous marriage. My husband and I fell in love within a week. I extended a week vacation to a 3 week vacation. He came to my house in SC for about 3 weeks and then went to his mom’s house in NY. He came back to SC in Nov. of ’87 and we were married on November 21, 1987. I had experienced some of his “strangeness” while in Daytona. We were there during the 4th of July and on he 4th there were alot of fireworks going off. We were walking down the sidewalk that night and a large firework went off. Vietnam Service Medal
