Veteran’s Story: My Father came from Germany and served in the US Army. He went to Vietnam and lived the horrible war that eventually took his life. He didn’t die in Vietnam but his mind and spirit died in Vietnam. He couldnt take the memories anymore , thats what he said in his suicide note. He was shot by friendly fire while serving in Vietnam and was in the hospital for 13 months where no family came to see him. His military medals and pictures he had were never retrieved. My father Sgt. Manfred Steinhauser “held it down” while he existed, I say existed because how can someone live after a horrible war? He was a strong man and I wish someone could have helped him. I miss him and I hope god has mercy on his soul.
