Veteran’s Story: Tommy and I were best buddies in the Nam. When he got hit Jan. 1969, I carried him to chopper. For the next thirty years we kept in touch. I went to live in New Orleans for awhile and he came to Minnesota for a while. I was best man at his first wedding. We always kept in touch. In ’95, his third wife called me for help. He was digging foxholes in front yard. Got him into VA but didn’t help. Too much anger. Finally the pain got to him and he shot himself. I think of Tommy almost everyday.
