Veteran’s Story: Herb was despondant and had a drinking problem. Didn’t talk much about home. Was recently demoted to pv1 for insubordination. I tried to keep him in line. We were on guard duty here was on the bunker line, facing Ho Nai I was at a firing point K21 facing the ammo dump. A call came over land line that Herb was bleeding at the nose from pfc Ronald Rau from Yelleville, Arkansas. Herb was medivac to 25 evac where he passed on later that next day. Cpt Cecil R. Woolums would not give the unit any more info on date of death and told us to keep on the hush side.
