Veteran’s Story: I would like to add my father’s name. Donald Arthur Gilbert. A corpsman in the Navy. Trained at the US Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA in 65 and was stationed at the US Naval Hospital in Okinawa in 65/66, Japan. He killed himself several months after returning home to Charleston, SC Naval Hospital Base where my mother and I (age 1 1/2 then) joined him. While in Okinawa, he worked in the morgue for quite some time. While there, he attempted suicide once and yet was forced to stay for the rest of his tour and then was told he must stay for another. I don’t what it was like for him in Okinawa but I do know that while he was there, both of his brothers were in-country in Vietnam/Cambodia. Please tell me how I can register him for this memorial. I think he earned it. Thank you, Cindy Jachetti
